As you probably already know, my name is Gena N. and I live in central New Jersey. My two passions are my horse and photography. I first started with photography almost two years ago with a 35mm Canon film camera, the one my dad used in college. I fell in love with it after he taught me the ropes and everywhere I went, I brought along the older, heavier, but sturdy as ever camera. It served its purpose well enough for about a year, until Christmas in 2007, my parents bought for me the Canon Digital Rebel XT. Since then, there has not been a moment when I have never had my camera. A few months after I received it, I collected enough myself to purchase a bigger lens that I knew I would find useful at horseshows. And I am so happy I did buy them. There has not been a moment of regret! They have brought me close up on the action and right where I need to be to capture great shots. I want to be a professional photographer and to start this young is one of the best things that have ever happened to me.
The first time I met the four year old, chestnut Quarter Horse gelding, Trouble Boy or "Dalton", I remember thinking "he's too young and not what I want". He was pigeon-toed and his pasterns were slightly upright, the type of conformation that would keep him from doing the classes I wanted to do. I was all for dropping the lease on this horse, but my mom was the one who convinced me to go on with it. Almost a year later, I am so grateful that she did. He was originally just a trail horse when we bought him on August 3rd, but with time, patience and continous work he has turned into a atheletic, happy, wonderful pleasure horse. We have come such a long way in such a short time, it's made me realize how much I really do love him.
Besides Dalton, I have been riding for six years this September. I have ridden at countless barns and have gathered so much experience from all of my trainers that I apply to everyday riding.
